Access Statement for Claremont Guest House
This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our guests/visitors.
Introduction
We are situated between the cliff path and town of Shanklin. The train and bus stations are 10 minutes walk away up a hill. We offer 5 bedrooms, one is on the ground floor, and all have en-suite. Pre-Arrival
The nearest railway station is Shanklin. Taxis are available at the station. If you require an accessible taxi this can be arranged (please see below).
Car Parking and Arrival
There is a car park at the front of the house with parking for 5 cars. The drive is half loose stones and half concrete. This is well lit at night with two lights at side of door and a motion sensor light.
Welcome Area
Guests are welcomed in the hallway. The floor is carpeted , and the area is evenly lit with a 5 bulb chandelier and table lamp. The lounge and ground floor bedroom are off the hall.
Bedrooms
There is 1 bedroom with a double bed on the ground floor, with step-free level access from the front door. On the first floor there are 4 bedrooms, 1 single, 1 twin and two double rooms which take 2 adults; they are reached by stairs only. The door to the ground floor bedroom is 770mm/30ins wide, all the other doors are 720mm/28ins wide. All rooms are carpeted and lit with central ceiling light and 2 bedside lamps, and all the bed heights are 62cm from top of mattress to floor.
Bathrooms, Shower-rooms & Toilets
All rooms have en-suite shower rooms. The ground floor bedroom en-suite offers. Door opening to the bathroom is 52cm/20.5ins, step up to the shower is 29cm/11.5ins. The toilet height is 44cm/17ins. Height of sink is84cm/33ins with two taps. All en-suites have ceiling lights and strip lights with shaver points over the mirror. Rooms 1 & 3 have radiators with towel rail over and rooms 2 & 5 have heated towel rails.
Public Areas – Halls, Stairs, Landings, Corridors
All public areas, hall, stairs and landing are well lit with 3 chandeliers, all carpeted, there are 11 steps to a small landing then 6 steps to the main landing with the bedrooms off, there is a handrail on one side.
Public Areas – Lounge
The guest lounge is situated on the ground floor with step free entry from the door and stairs, door to lounge is 76cm/30ins. There are two sofas and a coffee table, flatscreen TV, two table lamps and a ceiling light with 5 bulbs with a dimmer switch.
Dining Room
The dinning room is situated on the ground floor with one step 15cm/6ins deep. There is an archway 79cm/31 ins wide and door 72cm/28ins wide, there is a ceiling light, carpeted floor. All 5 tables are 76cm/30ins in height and chairs are 45cm/17.5ins. We are able to cater for varying dietary requirements, please advise us when making a booking.
Additional Information
All the bedrooms have flat screen TVs with freeview, hairdryers and tea-making. There’s also free Wi-Fi.
